PENEGATOR+™ MANAGES AVAILABLE MOISTURE BY CONTROLLING SOIL STRUCTURE.
Managing available water in the root zone is important to maintaining healthy crops. PeneGator+ improves sub-surface soil structure, making it possible to fully achieve desired moisture levels while applying up to 50% less irrigation water.
Clay soils often become unstable, breaking down into fine particles that create non-porous or “waterlog” conditions. The result is typically standing water on the surface due to poor water penetration. Water in the soil is also being held so tightly, that much of it is not readily available to the plant’s root system.
Treating with PeneGator+ will help open up soil, freeing up additional moisture in the root zone, and creating a more porous surface area. Maximum soil conditioning is typically achieved when used with additional calcium and/or organic matter to keep soil particles from forming a crust after irrigation. Better water penetration at the surface, and more available water to the roots, results in longer periods between irrigations, which can add up to significant water savings.
Sandy soils often have the opposite problem. Sandy soils can be too porous, allowing water to move down below the root zone more rapidly than desired, leading to the need for additional irrigation water to be applied to maintain the desired moisture levels.
PeneGator’s unique formulation helps aggregate silt and organic materials deep in the soil profile, reducing porosity and creating a “net” like effect that restricts water flow, keeping water in the root zone longer and reducing the frequency of irrigation water applications. For this reason PeneGator+ is the first choice for permanent no-till crops where standing water is an issue due to compacted soil.
